Warranty question

I am faced with a end of lease question. I am buying my 2004 325 convertable. I am asked if I want to have an additional 2 year warranty for about $2,500. It is a lot of money on a $20k car. My question is with 40k miles and only minor problems, can I expect a big ticket item or failure in the next 2 years?

Is it a bumper to bumper mechanical warranty, that includes the maintenance items (brakes, etc.) or is it a major parts warranty, drive-line, engine, trans, etc.? Regardless the price is negotiable and you should be able to buy that for $2,000.00.

iT IS MAJOR PARTS AND THE PRICE IS $2,595

So no maintenance, I say it is too much, that is $1200.00 per year, plus deductibles. Save the money and pay for your own repairs.
