ok, my car drives fine, shifts fine , i just need a new suspension. However, since 5 months ago, the car has started to give this weird noise when i press the clutch. It shifts as regular, the clutch is in good condition but the noise is kinda lame after being there all this time. It can only be heard when i have the clutch down, ppl is startting to ask me, what's that weird sound? some of them think it's a BMW thing and it actually sounds cool, like a real sports car [;)] , hehehe. I have started to worry about this, maybe it can be a major problem later.

Since i am a newbie to BMWs and i know nothing about fixing them, i would like to hear from all of you ...

the sound is like a hydraulic sound, cant explain it, maybe i should record to explain myself better,

I have no idea if you have to change the transmision oil or anything that must be maintened regularly. I am about to do my first oil change since i got the car in January, i dont drive it much, just from college to my house and viceversa, i have just added like 2000 or so miles since i got it [:)].

Plz help me with this problem, i have posted something regardling to thie previously but i got no responses, i want to have this noise fixed ASAP, before it is too late.

If you are really so concerned maybe you should take it somewhere to get it looked at. Most of the people on this board aren't certified BMW mechanics. That, coupled with the fact that you're description, although mostlikely accurate, is very vague would explain the lack of replies. I'm sorry to say that I don't know how to go about fixing your problem, and I hope that someone else does. However, I don't think it's fair to complain about something like this.

i was waiting for a recording too.. i really don't know what a hydraulic sound really sounds like.

I do know that one possibility is your throwout bearing.

Another is hydraulic clutch. I have no idea how the hydraulic clutch works but but i do know the throwout bearing. it is engaged when your clutch petal is depressed. Usually you can tell that is going bad because you can sometimes feel it in the petal. then again there's the hydraulic clutch that might tune the wiggle out. bad bearings i would imagine being a grinding noise instead of a hydraulic noise, but then again i don't know what a hydraulic noise sounds like. so hope that helps.

If it is your throwout bearing you will have to drop your tranny to get to it.

Without a better description of the noise it would be hard to guess. But from the limited info, it sounds like the noise is the throw-out bearing. It can also give a slight whinning noise when the clutch is depressed when bad.

problem fixed

ok the problem is now fixed, the main problem was the release bearing. In addition, the pressure plate was not in good shape. The mechanic told me that the plate had the appearance of a crystal or mirror. The clutch was still in good condition, but the other two that i have mentioned were badly damaged. The car feels like brand new now, before i had to press the gas to almost 1500 rpm to have a smooth start, whitout presing the gas the car will drag. Now i can start without gas and the car wont drag. In addition, i feel a lot more power and i can finally hear the cool noise coming out from the exhaust.
I can provide pictures to interested people if they want to see the worn parts.

Thx to all the ppl who posted
