i have a 97 318 convertible with 98K+. i just filled up today and figured out that i was getting almost 23 mpg. i guess that is pretty good. i was told that a 318 is supposed to get 22 mpg.

what do you guys get?

PS. i would gladly give up the 22-23 mpg for a faster engine[mad] but that is me venting. sorry![?|]

Well, I've got an eta E30, but as a point of comparison, I get 33 mpg on the interstate and about 18 in the city. My 350ci Camaro gets about 9 mpg in the city on a good day if I keep my foot out of it, and about 15 mpg on the interstate. It's fun to drive, but let me tell ya, the gas mileage gets old when using the car as a daily driver (I drove it as my daily driver for 7 years up until I got my E30 in May).

short trips in the city will kill the gas mileage. remember when your idling your mpg is 0. mine is 16-17 because i usually drive 7 miles at a time and only sometimes. it even happened in my 4 banger honda accord so I wouldn't worry about it.

top off the tank, drive on the freeway, fill up and you'll see your mpg go up.

im running 23/30ish on a 318is...redlining at times, pushing the limits, but goddamm its fun. If u drive a standard, free wheel down hills... it helps the mileage

Average Jae... what in the world is a 330i pp? The 330i is obviously common.. but the pp? do tell my friend...
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think PP stands for Performance Package. Anyway, I usually take short city drives and that gets me about 16mpg. I remember going away (all highway) and that showed up to be somewhere in the middle to low 20's, that's with passing every ones in a while, fully loaded car and with the original O2 sensor at 97.5k miles. I want to replace the sensor to get better milage but can't find the time.

My 318 gets about 25 in the city and 30 to 32 on the interstate...thats with a cold air intake on it, that helps out in additon to the fule treatment I add every 5K or so...of course of I step on the gas too much and the SC winds up more thats a different story, but then again I shouldnt complain b/c what else should I expect when I do that

32MPG when checked today. '95 318I, 5 spd. Filled yesterday, ran car occasionally trying to keep warm because I was an hour early to p/up wife from work, did some around town errands, drove from S.E. Ct. to Saratoga N.Y. doing 73-75 MPH.-ALOT of uphill! I went from sea level, accross the Berkshires into the Southern Adirondacks. WITH!!!!! 3 days worth of my wife's clothing!!!! And a full tank of gas(considerable weight!) I had to come back tonite for the dog, doing same run Sun. (yeah.. I'm beat)
Sorry - late and I'm rambling!

It does look good-"clean" is an understatement! Good of you to bring it from the showroom to your driveway!
I MUST spend more time on my car!
VERY nice!
(just between you and me...what's your secret? I won't tell)

17-21 MPG in city traffic with a decent foot on the pedal, not a lead foot. It is a bit heavy though with the convert top and the 17 inch chrome rims. Pretty decent though.....sad thing is my 98 Z28 LS1 got about the same MPG with the V8.[:(!]
