I'm thinking to paint my 325i Coupe E36 -92. Because it has some nasty bumbs and scratches to be fixed, it has to get paint on the sides anyway.
What color do you guys and gals recommend for my bimmer?
The current color is Calypso Red. I was thinking Metallic Black or something.
If you've got any pics to go with your suggestion, please post them too...[;)]

Big Daddy has a very good point. There are a LOT of parts on your car that need painting. Under the hood, in the trunk, even inside the car behind back seats and everything. You can get all that painted but it would cost a lot of money. If you're not worried about mismatched colors then I'd say go with something crazy like Lime Green. Trust me, it may sound dumb but I've seen an M3 with a sweet black undercoat with lime green paint, it looked unbelieveable. Sorry I don't have an pics of it though.

As a long time of visiting bimmerpages with E36 325 with different colors - i've decided to stick at my current color... the Calypso Red that is...
I asked the paintshop what would it cost to paint the car inside out. Geeeeez was I flying on to my arsh... They calculated the costs would be appx. 2500-3000 euros (thats 3500-4000 in USD). No way for me. So this is why I'll stay with my current color and get the outer paintjob fixed to shine like new...

Only thing I'm gonna do is to change the side's black parts (dunno what they are called, but the long plastic stripes going a long the side... sorry for being a dumb [8] ), to the chassis color. Also some other minor parts will get the same solor as the chassis.

So what do you think about this? Am I a dull for doing this...

I never understand ads that say paint a car factory quality for only $400 when it costs thousands to do anywhere else.

The plastic strips are usualy refered to as trim, it basicly is just adhesive holding it on. To paint them shuldent cost more then a few hundred $. If there are any nicks and stuff on the trim it is usualy cheep to replace. A lot of people just pull off trim from junk cars in good shape and repaint it, rareley is there a need to buy new. Most people who paint it just paint it the exsiting body color.

For body color I love a dark charcoal or dark granite color. Its like getting a black car without the high matence of black. My favorite color Ive ever seen on a car is Pewter Silver avalable on Mercedes Benz.

I have my cars color changed from BMWs dark maroon (not sure what the actual color is) to Delphin Grey, which is also a BMW color. I think the Delphin Grey is one of the coolest and most unique colors I've ever seen on a BMW and I can't get over how good my car looks after the paint job. I got inside all the doors and trunk done, but skipped the engine bay because I dont go to shows or anything and I could always get it done later if I happen to have work done on the engine or something.

As far as the trim goes I took that all off myself and sanded it with very very fine sand paper and gave them all a few coats of Black Krylon Fusion plastic paint and they look REALLY REALLY good. I always think the black looks better then changing it to your body type, but thats just me.

That's true about coloring the trims. I used Photoshop to change the color to match my car... pretty lame [xx(]
You actually painted the trims with black paint?
How well has the paint stayed on? I mean that have the paint started to rip off anywhere?

Just wanted to post my current ride so you can see the current looks.
I will change the headlights in a matter of days to the Angel Eyes equipped ones.
Also the mirrors will be changed as soon as my pocket fills up again...[;)]
The side repeaters are to changed also in a matter of days to a version with black background and white/clear glass.

Like I said it was Krylon Fusion paint that is supposed to bond on a molecular level with the plastic and not chip or peel off at all. After give it 2 coats in a 24 hour period i let all the peices cure for 7 days and then installed them and so far there hasnt been a single chip and they look really really good.
