Youre telling me, the firts time I tried it took me 15 minutes just for the harness, the bad thing is it goes in as hard as it goes out but you can always bash it with a screwdriver or something. I am going with an Alpine cda-9815 hopefully in a few days so I will only have to reamove that thing one more time, thank god for that. What are you doing with your's anyway?
You mean my system, or my old radio?
My system, I am systematically up-grading everything the way I want it. I just put an alpine/bmw head unit (the ones that went in the '99 328Is) and I'm gonna take out the old amps and rear speakers and get an alpine amp (not sure which one to get though [or even what brand]; SUGGESTIONS???) And that'll probably be it; I don't like the extreme bass and loss of trunk space, but I do admire those who can live with that huge box in the trunk.
As far as the old radio, I really wasn't going to do anything with it; the light doesn't work and that would cost $50 to fix, I might keep it or if someone asked me for it, I'd probably give it; no sense in me keeping something I have no use for. It is in excellent cosmetic condition though; maybe I'll sell it on ebay. I dunno.
Oh yeah, here's a trick to get that harness in: use a C-Clamp. I took it to this audio place near me and they took a c-clamp with a piece of ply wood and had it in there in less than 30 seconds. I thought that was a great idea.
I do like those alpine head units (cda 9815) my buddy has one (cda9817) and that thing kicks ass. Good luck man.
