which parts to change?

hi, my rpms drops but the engines didnt die. Its stay like that even after few miles or even when i stop at traffic light. Anyone know why
another question: what cause a cring sound "like loose belting sound" can be heard close to the fan, please help me so i can change the right parts. thanks in advanced.

Hate to say this , but I had the same problem with a 99 2.3 a while back. I t turned out to be a vacuum problem in the intake and also made the noise you described. Dealer repaired, hope its not your problem also. Good Luck!

oh im afraid my z3 got the same problem as yours. Do your remember how much it cost you? ( did your car experience a sudden increase in rpm and then it lowered down.)

Sorry for the delay. My rpms would only drop and I had to keep one foot on the gas to keep it running at a stop sign. Once it got going you could not tell there was a problem. It never revved or increased rpms by itself. good luck. Oh, it cost about $450 almost all of which was labor.
