bought my E36 back in Jan 99 and here is what i replaced so far: (173K miles)

radiator (3) broken friggin upper neck all 3 times
water pump (3) first was plastic and the other 2 metal
AC compressor/drier (1)
heater solenoid (1) its next to the brake master cylinder
roof lining (1)
02 sensor (1) same one for 5 years
blower motor (1) but i might have to replace that shit again..it sqeaks like a mofo
crank sensors (1) how the **** the wire broke is beyond me
fuel pump (2) first one wasn't bad but i decided to change after 150K 2nd was faulty (warr)

94 325i convertible:

85,000 miles-had the following work done:

Oxygen sensor (84K miles)

Brakes and Rotors (85k miles)

Seats are somewhat beaten up from sun exposure, but no cracking

Various minor cosmetic upkeep

Oil pan replacement (can blame that one on the oil change shop)

Hmmmmmm, that is all that I can think off.......

My 1993 325I has 165,000 miles on it. I love it, she runs like a champ. Only problems:

-Passenger's side heated seat doesn't work
-Driver's side window regulator broken
-Valve cover gasket leaks a little bit
-Minor interior problems...the car used to be owned by a coke dealer or something and the FBI ripped the interior apart looking for drugs. They didn't do the best job putting everything back together.

Overall, she's been very reliable (knock on wood). Handles like a dream and is fun as hell to drive.

97 328i with 90,000 miles; replaced the following:
- Stop Light Switch (infamous Brake Circuit Error on OBC)
- Replaced Water Pump (one with metallic impellor) as preventitive maintenance
- Replaced Hood Strut
- Replaced Fan Blade (broke right after water pump replacement)
- Replaced Fuel Filter, Spark Plugs (preventitive maintenance)
- Secondary Air Pump, Control Vavle (classic pump noise during warm up)
- Front Control Arm Bushings (steering shakes while braking)
- about to replace the Power Steering Fluid Reservoir and the hose (small leak).
- replaced a instrument light bulb in OBC
- repaired climate control unit (replaced the capacitor)
Plus the usual oil changes, Brake Discs, Pads, fluid changes, etc.

97 328is 60,000 miles
Replaced: thermostat, spark plugs, pads went bad replaced with corss drilled and dimpled rotors and carbon pads. Not a single thing has gone wrong with the car to date. Owned 3 years... only done performance no actual repairs.

Hi all,
1995 318Is with 112,xxx miles on her. Work done:

-All four rotors/pads/tires/ brake sensors
-Left control arm w/ ball joint
-Left Inner/Outer Tierod
-Painted side skirts
-New leather stick (found a place that sells them for $50 shipped, if anyone needs one)
-Light switch bulb (still haven't replaced)
-And now I have to take it for inspection II and probably some other work cause it's idling funny after depressing the clutch while drifting.

I love my car, and I'm hoping to take her to 250,000 without any rebuild of any kind. She drives like new except for that recent problem with the idle.

I have 66k on my 95 325i Conv., I have owned the car since May 2001 and other than a full tune-up, tires and brakes I have had to replace the left tire rod, recharge the a/c 2x (no leaks found) and will soon replace the front shocks. When I bought the car the passenger side power lock did not lock automatically, I never wanted to spend the cash to fix it and last year (actually on my birthday) it worked itself out and has worked fine since!

Well, I'm up to 197k on the odometer. Hopefully I can have my 200k mile party soon. I have it all planned out. I'm gonna drive it around some when I see it getting close. I'm gonna time it to where it hits 200k in my driveway. Everyone's gonna be at my house waiting on me. Then, when I get there, it's gonna be one killer party. I should have it this summer sometime. If anyone is in Gulf Shores, Alabama at all this summer, keep a heads up for my party. Everyone's invited.

i own a '92 325is with 197k and it still runs better than any car i have ever owned. i bought it at 170,000. from the origonal owner. i have only replaced the exhaust muffler. i too have little problems the ceiling hangs, the car bounces too much i blame that on shock which need to be replaced, there are afew scratches on the seats and dash board. there has been no engine rebuild (no ticks). im running on the original stock manual trany, i haven't yet incountered any of the horrible thunks and gear rejections that i have read about. so im prayingf forf the best.which just goest to show how these cars have good potential to hold up. im about to replace the clutch and add a dynex cold air intake. to help satify my spirited driving habbits. im very happy with this car and would probuly replace every thing in the car just to have it work !! bmw = goodness

You said you replaced shocks/struts-what did you o with? how much did it run you? I need to replace at least my fronts, I was thinking about going with Bilstein's but may stick with OEM's as I drive in and out of NYC and may give too harsh a ride with all the potholes/rough pavement plus that would definately require also changing the rears. Any else's feedback would also be appreciated. Thanks.

Just clocked over to 190K.

Currently replacing:
Front Struts and Bump Stops
Rear Shocks and Bump Stops
Control Arm Bushes
New set of rubber

Previous work:
Blower fan motor (blown thermal fuse which I removed)
Crazy speedometer (poor contact to circuit board)
New Boot lid and tail light assembly (my boss backed into it)
AC regas
Windscreen (rock from passing truck)
Front bumper (high wheel stop in parking lot)
Pillar covers fell off (screwed in place)
New CD controller and 10 Stacker
New Alarm with central locking
A couple of Fog Light assemblies (them bloody trucks again)
Water pump (replaced under warranty)
Usual consumables (tyres, pads, filters, globes...)

Still goes like the clappers, I was thinking of 'upgrading' to E46 but I will probably stick with the old girl for a bit longer. The brake discs will be the next thing to be replaced. Also noticed a bit of oil leaking around the main seal, could be expensive.
Still regularly pulling 160clicks when late for work.
