I just replaced the regulator on mine. Its a pain in the butt!. The electric motor itself is screwed on with three hex head screws. To remove the motor you have to remove the regulator, which, if it is stock, it is riveted in place. There are two plugs going into the motor, one for up and one for down (I think) check this first. If the motor works in one direction it means the motor is probably good and should work in the other It should work to bring the window down, but if its not receiving the signal it won't. I'm not sure if the information I've given is 100% correct but this is how I think the system works based on my experience removing, and changing the regulator on mine. I changed the regulator and re-used the same motor. Hope this helps.

hey look it's simple, just remove the screws or drill out the hex nuts and replace them with bolts. the one touch function always wears out and needs replacing, I did on my 320i. get a used motor and arm as a new one will cost at least $300
