"The only warning lights on an E34 is the airbag light, and inspection/oil change lights." - is what he said. "...that need to be reset" makes all the difference!

Anyway, it would have been an amazing coincidence if the intermittent problem disappeared just when the ignition had been on for 45 seconds before cranking the engine. The only way to find out is to take a connector off and try again, but I'm a bit busy at the moment! If we carry this argument on for a few more weeks I might just have to try it...
in that post yes in another post... i wasn't talking to you anyhow, just deedee, in another post Eric clearly explained what he meant and deedee was still referencing the first post. you know what i'm sorry for getting in this topic, i'm not trying to make any enemies here. yikes.

BREAK IT UP LADS!!!!!!

Thanks for all the advice - problem's sorted, and I have a nice little puzzle to lull myself to sleep with - does the brake pad warning light need resetting after new brake sensors, or does it not need resetting after new brake pad sensors?

it does... it doesn't... it does... it doesn't... zzzzzzzzzzzzz

That was entertaining!!
epj3.... Do i know a 1997 5 series is not the same as a 1991 5 series??? [scratch]
Yes of course! one say's 1997 and the other say's 1991
That was an easy one!!!

Look... Yes of course i do! Do you not think that i perhaps may have had a 5 '91?
Not to mention all the rest i have had???
Do you think that i do not know BMW's?? It seems i know maybe just a little more than you... I for one know that there is a warning light for the brakes, you dont!
It was me that told Raph to check his sensor cables... It was me that told him to reset the brake warning light... Which worked! Remember??

I don't know why you have to spout off when i have provided a fix and you did not......!

Start that BMW of your's up and get out more often...... [screwy] [screwy]
What the **** are you talking about? I never said there's NO warning light. I said in my FIRST POST that I had the same problem with the warning light going off. Jesus christ.

Thanks mjbst111, at least there are a FEW people who can look through a typo.

And Eric, please don't bash me for having an 1995 3 series and posting my opinion on a thread regarding a 1991 5 Series. Hahaha. J/k.

You're a hoot!

Your not supposed to.

The only warning lights that need resetting are the airbag and SI... Yes i know this... The amount of times you have said this im pretty sure we all know that now.

Still... The brake light DID go out after resetting. That worked. It was recommended by BMW. They used the word reset.

Everyone with 2 pence worth.... The car is fixed why bother going on about it?

Since I've been pretty busy I wasn't going to bother testing the reset thing again, but since I've got to check rear wheel bearings (there's been a bit of scraping noise on cornering), while I'm there I'll disconnect a sensor and see if the light goes off when I reconnect it, just in case it was all a fluke. If it doesn't and the 45 second trick works again, someone's going to owe someone a beer.
