on the back of my headlights, only on the middle ones, there is a white plastic piece that has a black rubber thing on it....it comes out if i pull it, and it opens a hole 2 the inside of the highbeam headlamp....what is the purpose of this? thanx

European city light that is not on the US model? Not sure, that was my guess though. Matter of fact, I just took my old stock lights out of the closet, I see what you mean. has a black rubber end on the back.

hey guys that is to release heat from the headlight assembly. since you mostly use just your low beams they get pretty hot, and all that does is allow cold air to circulate into the housing when you are using your highbeams, because then it gets really warm inside there. It also keeps the highbeam bulbs from baking themselves. If you take a look at it it has little vents at the tips that will allow air to get right near the bulb.

It's a moisture vent

It's there to vent moisture in the air and keep it from condensing on the lens.

Plug it, remove it or keep it from pointing down, and your lens will fogg up inside if you use your high beams.

The lens isn't completely sealed, and the little rubber tube allows the hot moist air to escape, (that's why it's at the top of the lens)
