On the highway with the radar detector on and a moderate amount of cars around (not too many, but enough so that the detector is effectice) I usually drive 80-85... around town I don't speed much at all though. On the drive back from school in the areas of few to no cops though I sometime stretch the legs a bit, if you know what I mean [driving]
How about you guys?

I used to drive faster, with my auto, but the 5-speed has me driving more cautiously. I think I need to invest in a really good detector though, Valentine or something, cause I've passed laser traps without a beep, luckily I wasn't speeding and I saw them a mile in advance. I think the key is to be smart about it... knock on wood

Highway- 9 MPH over speed limit, unless I have a bunch of you fast guys ahead of me for troopers to pull over !!
Town/City no more than the limit, although get do get a little carried away on some back roads. (rt. 146 from Guilford to the Thimbles is my favorite!) I haven't been stopped for speeding since I started driving! (1976)
Now watch!!!!!!! I'll get stopped tomorrow!

If speed limit is 40 or below, I do the speed limit on the nose.
speed limit of 45-55 i do 5-7 mph over
Highway 65+ I do about 10 to 15 over, usually around 10 tho.

It also depends on what car i am in. If i am in the Mark VIII, I am lot more prone to go faster as the car is faster than my bimmer, its less of a target, even since i lowered it and put chromies on it, and because its faster than cop cars. I know its not faster than Motorola, but beween my scaners and quick thinking, im faster than most cops...(knock on wood...)

Well Im on the parkway going to and from school every single day so I know where the cops are and where I can speed. I'm usually going from around 80-100 mph but slow down where there could be cops. Around town I keep the speed low, but almost always 10 mph over the posted limit.

I drive wayyy too fast, and the tickets i have got prove that. The list is huge my latest was a 28MPH over. I had a dectector and it helped me a few times, by instead of getting 30 over, only getting a 15 over. If you wanna hear stories tell, me, but i dont have the time now

around town i cruise at the speed limit, sometimes up to 4 over. speeding tickets seem to come to those who ALWAYS are over. but once i get on the freeway i tend to pick things up a bit, still only going about 80 unless i am challenged or need to get somewhere in a real hurry, then the sky's the limit (and by sky i mean my stock governer [V] )

Up to 5 mph over limit, But I do like quick take offs when safe, or when entering freeway on-ramps, my 0-60 opening !!!. Kinda a cheap-quick thrill. For the most part I drive fairly safe these days.[burnout]

What's the Mark VIII packing, V8? Around 280hp maybe... yeah I bet it hauls. Probably doesn't sing like a straight 6 though :)
Yeah, its an Aluminum block/aluminum head(s) 4.6l DOHC V8 out of the cobra, just not a cast block. BHP started at 290 stock, after full exhaust including long tube headers, straight through cats and cherry bombs (every real american muscle car needs cherry bombs), CAI, and chip, id say im in the vicinity of 315. The rest of the chip tranny upgrade 3.73 rear end (almost wish I got 4.10s...) and 2800 stall torque converter get it to the ground much more efficiently, so I would say im probably laying down a good 250-260 hp to the ground. Next up are a Cobra intake, Cobra fuel rails, bigger injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, Cobra cams and 32 bright new +2mm stainless valves. While I have the heads off, im gonna have them port matched and polished. After that I will have to drop the cash and have it put on a dyno. All of that will probably be done this time next year.

You are right tho, the straight six does have a very distinctive sound, expecially with the exhuast that is on it, talk about a head turner. The best part about it is no drone on the highway, but while its idling and your standing behind it, it will make your clothes shake. Put some rev behind it and it is like nothing you have ever heard before. Maybe I will try and get some sound bits up tomorrow morning....

i drive at the speed limit or under in built up areas (if a kid ran out in front i couldn't cope if i killed them) on the motorway (70Mph Limit) I go at what ever speed i think or feel is safe 100+ in the dry and 60-100 in the wet. i have radar detector which helps alot [:D] my basic rule is that if theres a central reservation then i go at what ever speed i want.

I had a 93 Mark VIII....loved the thing, still miss it, hated it when the air suspention went out. Used to hang at lincolns of distinction website, helped to start it off years ago...same carcus user name. The Mark VIII with a nice exhaust sounds real nice. Good go go juice for a big car. Sounds like you got some nice mods to it.[thumb]

I really liked the interior of the Mark VIII, felt like a cockpit around you. Pretty cheap to buy used now also.[thumb]
