Yeah, its an Aluminum block/aluminum head(s) 4.6l DOHC V8 out of the cobra, just not a cast block. BHP started at 290 stock, after full exhaust including long tube headers, straight through cats and cherry bombs (every real american muscle car needs cherry bombs), CAI, and chip, id say im in the vicinity of 315. The rest of the chip tranny upgrade 3.73 rear end (almost wish I got 4.10s...) and 2800 stall torque converter get it to the ground much more efficiently, so I would say im probably laying down a good 250-260 hp to the ground. Next up are a Cobra intake, Cobra fuel rails, bigger injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, Cobra cams and 32 bright new +2mm stainless valves. While I have the heads off, im gonna have them port matched and polished. After that I will have to drop the cash and have it put on a dyno. All of that will probably be done this time next year.
You are right tho, the straight six does have a very distinctive sound, expecially with the exhuast that is on it, talk about a head turner. The best part about it is no drone on the highway, but while its idling and your standing behind it, it will make your clothes shake. Put some rev behind it and it is like nothing you have ever heard before. Maybe I will try and get some sound bits up tomorrow morning....
