Have finally installed the Race Marque Systems supercharger with the Stage 2 aftercooler. [:)]

Am now waiting for my DME to be returned from RMS.[:(] Spoke with them last week and was told it takes 2 weeks to have the DME reprogrammed. Not counting when i sent it, and not counting when they put in in the mail back to me. [???1]

Wish i had known that sooner. [?|]

Oh yeh, the so-called great installation instructions rely heavily upon the telephone link with RMS's tech. The procedures (at least the notebook i received) was poorly written, images referred to did not exist, and when i requested the images from RMS, what i recieved were of an M3, [the original RMS installation], and the original manual contained multiple typo's. As a former procedures writer for Lochkeed Martin, i was disappointed with their instruction manual. [spank]

The cover page referred to the aftercooler instructions that were not in the notebook. [ohcrap] The instructions were written to cover all bmw's.[chair] The structure of the manual was poor.
[bmwkick] I had to request the aftercooler installation manual to receive it, although i had bought their sc and aftercooler at the same time.[rolleyes]

RMS mentions a RMS cooling fan in their instructions, when i called and spoke with their tech, he told me i did not need the fan. People, here in Fort Worth we get triple digit heat during the summer for a minimum of 30 days. Therefore i spent additional monies for a 10 inch fan from Pep Boys (same price a Summit Racing) and installed it. [clap]

Hopefully within the next 2 weeks, i will have the DME, install it, and go have some fun at the Kennydale Race Track here in Fort Worth. [driving]

Before you ask:
I will post : 0 to 60; and 1/4 mile times here.

Cheers,

sounds like a great project - how many hours for the actual labor (if u had good instructions)

dme 2 weeks??!! wow that's crazy. they have it preprogrammed and just have to burn it
to your dme, that's pathetic that it takes so long
it'll all be worth it in the end though =]

will u be removing the NOS?
is it a manual?
what size rear tires are u running? slicks?

My labor hours so far total 35. But, this being the first time i have ever taken on a project of this nature, i am not surprised. Suspect if i were to do it again i could shave 6 to 8 hours off my current total.

As for the NOS. I installed the nozel between the throttle body and the aftercooler. Made a hole in the rubber sleeve and secured the needle. Had to allow the solinoids to "float" behind the oil filter housing. Although it seems to be rather snug.

I have an auto trans with manual select available.

Rear tires are the same as the front. 225/40ZRs on 18" rims.

With a guesstimated hp of 441 (with the NOS) i am figuring that i will be investing in KUMHOs again in the near future. [:D]

The boost quoted by RMS is 10 psi.

Having just installed the Brembo's, and the RMS sc/w Stage 2 aftercooler, i believe that i will not be emptying my wallet for other modes anytime soon.

Would like to get the feel of this one before making further mods. [doorpeek]

Last time i was in Houston was to buy this beemer. That was 2 years ago. [burnout]

I have been using their labels (RMSs). Stage 1 is the sc itself. Stage 2 is comprised of a heat exchanger (fits in front of the radiator/ a/c condensor, and a core cooling unit that fits between the sc and the throttle body. The stage 2 has an independant pump to circulate the 50/50 antifreeze and water.

Sounds awesome, I wish a could afford a supercharger kit for my car. Too bad that your car is an automatic, but it WILL still kick much ass. Congrats, hope it all works out for you.

i've heard nothing really good about RMS and their support and service. The only thing good I heard is that if you live in SoCal you can just drop into their shop all the time and they'll help you. Otherwise most of the time you are SOL. Glad to see you got things all figured out, cant wait to see some #s.

I too have heard some adverse comments regarding RMS, locally by Bobby Archer Racing, in fact they have a lawsuit pending against RMS. Then when i ordered my DDE lights out of SOCAL, i heard additional negative comments about them.

Hopefully once i get my DME back from them, my association will not need to continue.

For what it is worth i have copied their expectations for having both stage 1 and 2 installed. Judge for yourselves if the potential hassle is worth it.

"The stage one system is rated at 369 HP - 310 HP at the wheels. This system comes complete with High Flow Injectors and RMS Software. Your purchase comes with comprehensive Instructions and technical know-how that can't be beat.

Also available in stage 2. The stage 2 system boasts the addition of the RMS Air-to-Liquid after cooler system. Nothing comes close to the efficiency this cooler has to offer. This cooler keeps the air cool even when your idling at a stop light, ready to cool the second you accelerate. With the help of this great cooling system, we are able to raise the boost and develop 411 hp at the crank. See the stage 2 product page for additional information."

NOTE: The gross hp should be calculated as 289 hp +42 hp + 75 hp (NOS) at the crank and less 16% at the rear wheels provides an "on paper" transfer of 341 hp.

Yes.

The heat exchanger has an electric pump connecter to it. I also have a 10" electric fan mounted in front of the heat exchanger. The 50/50 antifreeze-water combo flows to the core of the aftercooler box and absorbs the heat from the air being forced around the core prior to the air entering the throttle body.

Send me your e-mail address and i will forward project pictures. They aren't pretty, but they will reflect what has and is being done.

AttaBoy! congrats are in order! about the 93 octane, it'll run fine for daily driving but i have found that whatever more you can give it will not go un-noticed. i have tried a 10% toluene boost and noticed an improvement. seat of the pants, no hard numbers yet. local speed shop is installing a high end dyno this season. owner says it blows dyno-jet away.
