Well, in all fairness, that was one of the most intelligible posts from bmwhighrolla. With some punctuation and capitalization, he could be almost okay. It's probably from driving those hondas. He needs a site more like this:

This thread is teh suck.

Nice to see most people are well on their way to being true enthusiasts.

Phatbimmer seems to be struggling with his anti-Honda feelings. I don't know what is so hard to understand, a high school parking lot full of ignorant ricers does not destroy an innovative company with a serious performance commitment, and I thought I addressed the issue in several threads with him in the past, but at least he is trying.

bmwhighrolla could avoid some controversy if he would make less outlandish claims and communicate a little more clearly. I think he has some practical knowledge, but misses the point on a few things, like the VTEC/Turbo issue. VTEC is not an impediment to forced induction. Rather, VTEC is often used in a high-compression engines, and it is the high-compression that makes forced induction tricky as it increases the need for engine management to avoid dangerous Air/Fuel ratios and cylinder detonation.

brahtw8, how you liking the TL? I got a chance to check one (6MT) the other night and I must say I was very impressed. I love the looks too. It is a very attractive alternative to a BMW. The Nav. on those things is to die for. The best Nav. Placed in cars in the business.

P.S. cool pic...

Honda and toyota are the bench mark for reliabillity with honda being the best of the bunch. i am a professional in the quality assurance business and honda's qailty systems should be the standard to which all companies should aspire to get to. everyone has left subaru out of this discussion they i believe are third on the list of the best Japanese an has to offer. the wrx sti is a great drive. 100% better than the evo in my opinion.. they just need to work on the front aero dynamics a bit to relieve some of the float feeling you get at speed.

yes, they have good enignes but they are NOT fun to drive. I owned new 2003TL Type S, sold it 6 months ago. It was a big mistake buying it, I lost some big $ on this car. It is realiable and powerful but boring, front wheel drive results in nasty torgue-steer, cheap interior too, not a refined car but just bunch of parts put together. I was thinking that difference between Acura and BMW is small in terms of how fun it is to drive, but in fact the difference is huge, damn it.
BMWs just much more refined cars, that's why Honda's models are renewed every 2-4 years but BMW does it only every 7 years - they design their cars carefully, paying attention to all the little details, that's in German character (now, with all that mass production and asshole Bangle it's all going down it seems).
Some cars can be faster and more powerfull but I don't care, faster and fun to drive ain't the same thing at all. I'm not saying here that Hondas are bad, they are good, reliable and affordable everyday driver car but they are not fun to drive. On the other hand driving bimmer every day to work is not reasonable, they are not a commuter cars, I drive mine mostly on weekends and take a bus to work :)

I don't agree with that statement at all. I drive my BMW with 270,000 miles back and forth to school daily.
what I meant to say: "I find driving bimmer every day to work is not reasonable". You are lucky to drive BMW to school, I used to just walk there :)

so i finally decided to click on the thread to find out what the rice's all about, and i need to learn to breath again.

bmwhighrolla, while reading your posts, i'm totally amusing myself by imagining a south eastern asian immigrant speaking those lines. "speak with no pause talk about cars turbos more cars how honda awesome how honda haters i hate" i'm rather amazed at how you can type without any punctuation, and sorry about the bad quote, but to each his own. and if i offended anyone, i'm sorry, but i just had to mention my half buzzed amusement

mybabym3, i'm so with you. i too got a headache from reading [:D]

Lucky? The highschool I went to is in a upper-middle class area.. I had a near-perfect 1988 325is, and paid 1/4 of what most kids or their parents paid for their cars.

I just have better taste...why buy a 1999 Cavalier for $12k, when I could buy a 1988 BMW, and have a better car?

Yeah, I'm really lucky to drive my $1500 BMW with a squealing power steering pump to my medical school where other students have cars like C5 Corvettes, Acura TLs, E46 BMWs, Audi S4s, etc. Seeing as how my school is 8 miles away at the hospital which can only be gotten to via interstate, I don't have much choice but to drive my BMW.

Why not use a BMW to drive back and forth to work/school/etc? It's just a car - it's meant to transport you to different places. It's not like it's a Lamborghini or Aston Martin. Even if I had a car like that, I'd probably still commute with it. I commuted back and forth to school for 7 years in my 1967 Camaro. Some people would consider that car to be unreasonable for commuting, but I enjoyed it.

I used to commute too, I just have a choice to take a bus instead now and prefer to take it, that's all. What about cars, I tell you that old car that you have bought yourself is better than brand new one that your parents gave you, it makes you an adult. I don't consider a person an adult until he/she lives on her own and pays his/her own bills.

Not everyone has the option to take a bus - I sure don't, and if i did, I would still prefer to drive. The second part of your post was in some kind of english that I don't understand, but the point he made about buying his own car is that he worked to save money, so he could buy a car and NOT have to take a bus, walk, etc. In his case it was a necessity.

I didn't HAVE to buy a 16 year old BMW for $3700, but I did. I could've bought a newer american or japanese car that probably would get better gas mileage, need less attention, and have cheaper repairs/insurnace. But, in reality, I did get 25+ mpg, got places while usually having fun, and sometimes - when I would be late for work - I could make up some time in my drive! I considered my BMW to be VERY practical. Show me a cheapo cavalier, civic, etc. that would be as solid and safe of a car as the BMW.

I concur, your point was well stated read by me...

Anyhow, there are friendlier members on this board who appreciate "sophisticated?" praise, and don't respond in a hostile manner. (at least your post didn't read like a rant)

First off I'm not being hostile, and his statement (above) was NOT sophisticated. It look like it was written by someone who is just learning to speak english. If he is then I appolgize, but otherwise, my statement still stands.
